SWIG is generally more comprehensive in its support than tolua, so you
could try that. (In particular, it's much better for using with C, but it
certainly supports nested structures.) You need to get luaswig
specifically (from luagnome.free.fr) as the Lua support has not yet been
integrated into SWIG.
