The need for false

Hi to all, I've been following the list for a while, even if unfortunately
I have very little free time in this period.

I saw that Lua 4.1 will introduce a boolean type. What are the reasons for
this change (especially for the addiction of 'false' different from 'nil')?

(I apologize if this is an already discussed topic, I haven't seen this in
the weeks I've followed the list -- a good pointer will be enough).
