lua C++ interface

I know, what it "frequently-asked-question", but somebody uses (or has any 
idea about) simple in use implementation of this interface? I already saw 
tolua and luastate. The first is good, but is the external utility, and the 
second modifies lua that I not wanted. There is something else or any ideas?
