"Stringizing" a variable name

I'm trying to find the Lua counterpart for the C++ '#' directive (turn
a variable name into a string). Is there one? Such that:
  g = globals()
  foreach(g, function(i, v) print( *stringize(i)* .."= "..type(v)))
