on redhat 8 this is also seems to be true:
lua> gcc -O2 -g -Wall -I../../include -E lua.c | grep 'extern.* signal '
extern __sighandler_t signal (int __sig, __sighandler_t __handler) ;
lua> gcc -ansi -O2 -g -Wall -I../../include -E lua.c | grep 'extern.* signal '
extern __sighandler_t signal (int __sig, __sighandler_t __handler) __asm__ ("" "__sysv_signal");
