I'll have to dig it up, but I wrote a mostly* lua version of a readline clone for lua4. *By "mostly", I mean that I used the command line "stty" via execute() to set the terminal to raw mode (pretty ghastly, huh). But it did work.

If you're interested, I'll look for it.
