Maybe the switched to the BSD license because people didn't like the GPL
or Artistic licenses, but they forgot to use the non-obnoxious version.

Thanks for checking it out. It's the least interesting and most annoying
bit of combining the code from multiple sources, but it's also one of the
most important.
