OK, we learn new things every day :-)
This is a good idea, since if everybody know that kB and KB are 
different, MB and GB are much more ambiguous...
If the idea is adopted widely in the computer industry, there will be 
less ambiguity in hard disk advertisements (where 1GB = 1,000,000,000 
bytes...).
