Hypocrite, am I?
I think in the past I have tried to make a distinction between 'use of an
environment' versus 'use of a library'; and if my memory serves me correctly I
did not have strong feelings against GPL for programs (which includes Linux -
and let's not start a debate if Linux is a program or an OS).
Suffices to say that I am using Cygwin for its environment (just as I would use
Linux) and have no intention of linking to its library.
LegOS provides its own CRT and is licensed under MPL.

The perils of going on record - I should remember this episode if I ever run
for a public office [;-)]
