Zing! You're right about AppleScript's oddball syntax, and there's also HyperTalk and ScriptX and Dylan and Sk8, not to mention Objective C! And we could even go back to Integer Basic and the Sweet 16 virtual machine and the 6502 mini-assembler. Apple loves oddball syntaxes, but totally forgets what they did in the past.

Given that Apple came up with AppleScript, it's a bit hard to believe that their corporate culture discourages oddball syntaxes.
