I can see a place for a batteries included distro of Lua for Linux,
but don't most people use Lua as an embedded extension in some app
they're working on?
Nope I do both. In fact I find myself wanting to right more and more Lua and less and less C++. When you get an easy way to get the modules, it makes Lua a great way write applications and helper scripts.
