Congratulations, Roberto!
Having the book in Portuguese should raise the visibility of Lua in
Brazil, where most computer science professors and professional
programmers aren't aware that Brazilians created such an elegant and
practical language.
BTW, your interview with Luiz Henrique de Figueiredo in Masterminds of
Programming [1] is one of the best in the book.

I agree. I enjoyed that interview as well, especially the bug fixing annecdote at the end. It was especially... Humanizing.
Anyway, I was at a training session in Canada and had a chance to meet a developer that was from a city that is just outside of San Paulo. I asked him about Lua and he knew of it, but my impression was that he held it in no special regard.
That is a compliment. Lua is a useful tool and it isn't special that it was born in Brazil. To think otherwise is not really productive and somewhat arragant of me. So, it's a reminder and a parable. Great work comes from anywhere. It's true of countries and people.
