Lua performance

Hi all,

I'm trying to counteract FUD about the performance of Lua here at work.

I've had a look at http://shootout.alioth.debian.org to try and find 
relative performance, but that mixes compiled languages with 
interpretted languages.

Does any body know how Lua ranks with regards to performance on these lists?

By my estimation, it's currently considered about the fourth fastest 
interpretted language. Can anyone clarify this?
