Workshop 2006

Hi,

It's workshop organisation time again and I managed to volunteer myself
to help organise it.

There is a wiki page at http://lua-users.org/wiki/LuaWorkshopOhSix and
we'd appreciate it if people who are interested visit the page and
register themselves.

I apologise for the formatting of the page but I didn't realise the wiki
lacked table support until after I'd written the page. I'll reflow it at
some point soon to cope.

We obviously need to gather interest for the event. In particular there
is some concern over whether we should have a 2006 workshop, or wait
until 2007 for the next workshop.

Personally I think 2006 will be a very exciting year for Lua. Between
the last conference and the projected time for a conference in 2006 will
see the release of Lua 5.1 (assuming all goes well) and I expect a large
flurry of subsidiary projects will follow that release. E.g. my own
Aranha project (which incorporates Rici Lake's constructors and
comprehensions patches) and LuaJIT by Mike Pall.

Naturally we need attendees as well as speakers, so if you're interested
in attending then please do put your name down also. If you think 2007
is a better time for the next conference, then feel free to say so on
the wiki page and/or on the list here. It can only be healthy to have a
debate.

Hopefully we'll decide to have an '06 conference and as such I will see
a lot of you there.
