I remember seeing a couple of really nice looking Lua editors and
debuggers at the 2008 workshop, but alas they were proprietary and
have not been shared with the community as far as I know (plus I think
they were Windows-specific).

Personally, I've been using SubEthaEdit and xcode on OSX and gedit on
Ubuntu.  Some of these do code completion and the OSX ones are able to
list functions and hide blocks of code.
