> You are so right, but PIC? I learned COBOL back in the day when programs were input on punched cards. The school I went to had an IBM 360 mainframe with an enormous amount of RAM: 32K.  Real Men (i. e. real COBOL programmers) had to write out PICTURE the way the Computer Gods intended. :) On the other hand, REAL MEN (all caps intentional) programmed in assembly. Nobody had heard of C in the parts of 1975 I lived in.
