This is important, and some kind of framework would be useful.
Basically, our process has to grow up. There's a lot of one-person
projects out there, and we'd rather create our own than engage with
the existing packages. This is not just NIH syndrome, but a
perception about the difficulty of engaging with another developer.
There has been a lot of debate about what the successor to LuaForge
should look like - the old site is on life-support. That floundered
because of too many ideas and not enough developer time. So there's
definitely scope for collective action here.
