Starting Lua

Hello all,

It has been a while since I have had a computer, and it seems in that
time of not having one, Lua has changed enough that I figure I need to
start relearning things. I am currently running lua 5.1.3 on Mac OS X
10.6.8. I have tried to compile some of the additional libraries
(things like luasocket and luasqlite), but I can't seem to get things
working properly. The socket stuff is complaining about now being able
to find the "core" module, or something like that.

So, I guess the question that I have is where to start learning lua
again from scratch, with specific info on working on a Mac.
