The way I see it, it really isn't "top quoting by default", it's placing
the cursor at the beginning of the quoted text, so you can trim out the
irrelevant parts. I really dislike top-posting, but bottom-posting a
single-word reply below fifteen paragraphs of quoted text is just as bad.
